For families who split their lives between the US and Uzbekistan, and for travelers drawn to Samarkand and Bukhara, a private jet turns a long airline journey (with a connection from most US cities) into one trip on your own schedule, from the airport closest to you. Here's how it works.
How far is it?
Great-circle distances (the shortest path over the globe):
| Route | Distance |
|---|---|
| New York (Teterboro) – Tashkent | ~5,490 nm (~6,320 mi) |
| New York (Teterboro) – Samarkand | ~5,520 nm |
| Miami – Tashkent | ~6,440 nm (~7,410 mi) |
| Istanbul – Tashkent | ~1,810 nm |
| Dubai – Tashkent | ~1,185 nm |
Nonstop or with a fuel stop?
Only ultra-long-range jets can cover it nonstop on paper:
- Gulfstream G700: about 7,750 nm range
- Bombardier Global 7500: about 7,700 nm
- Gulfstream G650ER: about 7,500 nm (the standard G650: about 7,000 nm)
Real range depends on winds, temperature and how many passengers and bags are aboard, so the operator plans each flight individually. Westbound flights home, against the jet stream, are the hardest. On charters with the very largest jets (over about 100,000 lb, like the G700 and Global 7500), passengers and carry-ons are screened before boarding; see your first private jet flight.
Most other long-range jets make one fuel stop in Europe, which adds about an hour on the ground. For example:
- New York → Shannon (Ireland) → Tashkent: about 2,670 nm + 3,110 nm
- Miami → Keflavík (Iceland) → Tashkent: about 3,180 nm + 3,270 nm
A stop also lets you use a slightly smaller, less expensive jet. And many travelers break the trip on purpose, with a night in Istanbul or Dubai. From Istanbul, Tashkent is about 4.5 hours by air; from Dubai, about 3 hours.
What changed in 2026: Tashkent East for business jets
Business aviation in Tashkent now uses Tashkent East (Tashkent-Humo) instead of the main international airport. It has a 4,000-meter runway, is open 24/7, and has customs and immigration on site. Uzbekistan is also changing its airport codes from "UT" to "UZ" (for example, the main Tashkent airport UTTT becomes UZTT, and Tashkent East is UZTP). Your operator handles this, but don't be surprised if the airport name on your itinerary looks unfamiliar.
Samarkand has a modern international terminal, opened in 2022, and a 3,100-meter runway, so many travelers fly straight there to see the Registan, then on to Bukhara (BHK) or Urgench (UGC, for Khiva). Ask us early if you want to land at a regional airport; requirements can differ.
Itinerary idea: New York → Samarkand (two nights) → Bukhara (one night) → Tashkent East → home. One jet, three cities, no domestic connections.
Visa and entry
Since January 1, 2026, US citizens can visit Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days. You still need to register your stay; hotels normally do this for you. Everyone needs a valid passport; travelers with other passports should check their own rules.
Permits and timing
Private flights to Uzbekistan need a landing permit, which the operator requests. Permit providers estimate about 24–72 working hours, but there's no official published lead time, so give us at least a week for international trips, more around holidays. The operator will need passenger names and passport details, the schedule and the route.
What it costs
Long-range trips are priced by the hour like any charter (see how much a private jet costs in 2026). Ultra-long-range jets typically run $10,000–20,000 per flight hour, and the trip is roughly 11–14 flight hours each way depending on the route and stops, plus international fees and permits. One-way flights may include the cost of the aircraft returning empty, which is why we always check for repositioning opportunities first.
Questions & answers
Can a private jet fly nonstop from New York to Tashkent?
Yes, on paper, with ultra-long-range jets like the Gulfstream G700, G650ER or Bombardier Global 7500 (about 5,500 nm). Winds and payload decide each flight; many trips include one fuel stop.
Do US citizens need a visa for Uzbekistan?
Since January 1, 2026, US citizens can stay up to 30 days without a visa. You still need to register your stay, usually through your hotel.
Which Tashkent airport do private jets use?
Since 2026, business aviation uses Tashkent East (Tashkent-Humo, code UZTP), which has a 4,000-meter runway, 24/7 operations and customs.
Can I fly privately directly to Samarkand?
Yes. Samarkand has an international airport with a 3,100-meter runway. Your operator arranges the landing permit.
How far in advance should I book a private flight to Uzbekistan?
At least a week ahead, so the operator can secure landing and overflight permits; earlier around holidays.
